The Wild Rose Dance Arts Association (1987) is a non-profit organization that was originally formed in September of 1982 and held its first annual competition in June of 1983. The Association was formed by a group of dance teachers who felt Calgary should have a forum for all students to perform and gain experience.

Over the years, the Association has continued to grow in many ways. In addition to the annual competition, there are also several different scholarships and awards handed out each year, placing approximately $20,000.00 annually back in to the dance community. The main objectives of the Association are to educate and increase understanding and appreciation of the arts by organizing and operating a dance competition, and to advance education by providing scholarships to dance competitors.

The Association meets several times a year to discuss the dance community in Calgary and plan events. The members work hard to make Calgary a very positive place for students to learn about dance and develop self confidence.

May 10 to 13, 2020 at Jack Singer Concert Hall
May 14 to 15, 2020 at U of C Theatre.

The Wild Rose Dance Arts Association was formed by a small group of local teachers who wanted to provide a safe atmosphere for dancers to compete. Our first competition was held in May 1983. The competition grew rapidly and soon we became a non-profit association in 1987. Since inception, we have believed in opening doors for local dancers; in 2004 we successfully became a charitable organization allowing us to raise funds and give back to our dancers. We are very proud of our competition and scholarship programs. WRDAA would like to thank all those who donate, fund raise, volunteer and participate in the Wild Rose Dance Arts Association initiative.

All candidates who are registered at, and actively taking part in regular classes at a studio whose studio owner is a member of the Wild Rose Dance Arts Association may be eligible for scholarships.
